The Daily Good: Day 20
“Do you have time to cuddle with me.” My 7 year old asked me. I did not have time, but I made time. There was housework to complete — laundry for the week wasn’t done, but is it ever? Dinner needed to be started. I had papers to grade from a class I taught over the weekend. And having started my doctoral work a few months ago, I had homework to do. But nothing in that moment was more important to her than to sit with her and make her the center of the world. My arms lovingly around her. Cheek to cheek. The few minutes we shared filled her love tank and mine. She asked me for time, but what she gave me was a full heart.
There is good everywhere, we only need to pause long enough to see it.
This is a social experiment I’m doing. Each day for 30 days (not necessarily consecutive), I’m going to find something good and write about it. These posts won’t be lengthy. The point is that if we look hard enough, there’s something we can see good in each day.
You can find the previous days here:
— Day 1 — The morning high five.
— Day 7 — The school receptionist.
— Day 8 — Funeral homes are weird.
— Day 9 — Five little blackbirds.
— Day 10 — Choosing to see the flowers.
— Day 11 — Allowing others to help.
— Day 13 — Power of a good mentor.
