Today I’m embracing the middle.

Starting over is fun, a new day starts each morning with the light greeting the day. Each day there is an end to the day. But what about the middle? The middle is often overlooked, it is easy to see the before and after of a room remodel or a person who has started a new workout plan — but what about the middle?

The middle is often messy and overlooked.

The middle times of our life are often awkward. Remember your middle school haircut and clothing choices? The baby clothes were much more enjoyable. The professional clothes are, well professional.

The middle is where we grow. Often we find our best selves in the middle because that’s where we are at the time.

I love starting to write a new book. The new document allures me with its blank page, yearning for new words. It is exhilarating when I can click “publish” on a document, book, or project — but the magic happens in the middle. The middle is magic. It’s the struggle of life.

In my writing life, the middle is editing, while some would argue it’s the content that is king and what draws readers in, it is the editing that keeps…
